You Have The Power – The Campaign for Good Samaritan Hospital
Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation has been engaged in the largest and arguably most important capital campaign in the Hospital’s 105-year history – an $8.5 million campaign that will help build facilities to meet the community’s cardiac and emergency services needs long into the future.
We are pleased to share that to date we have raised $6 million to help build the Active International Cardiovascular Institute (AICI) and saved countless lives. The AICI opened in early 2007 and is taking care of the region’s cardiac needs.
But there’s more to be done!
Phase 2 of the Campaign has a $2.5 million goal to expand the cardiac services with an Electrophysiology Study (EPS) lab and increase our outreach programs. In addition, we now begin to design and build our Emergency Department (ED) – the front door to any community hospital and certainly one which should be at the cutting edge of emergency healthcare, technology, and skilled staff.
The Good Samaritan Hospital ED treated over 35,000 patients this past year, more than twice the volume from just ten-years ago. It is designated as a Level II Trauma Center and includes a Chest Pain Diagnostic Center to quickly handle patients arriving with chest pain. Our emergency helicopter landing zone allows patients to be quickly airlifted to the Emergency Department’s trauma center, and now to the Active International Cardiovascular Institute for the best and most convenient cardiac are available. The new ED will nearly double the capacity with state-of-the-art technologies to meet the continued growing needs of our community.
We need your help to raise the funds to rebuild and strengthen our Emergency Department for you and your family, friends and neighbors and provide the best and most effective treatment possible in stressful emergency situations.
The Mapes Match Can Double Your Gift!
One Couple’s quest…and an amazing opportunity for you!
Pierson and Pat Mapes are no strangers to Good Samaritan Hospital. Pat served on the Foundation’s Board of Directors for several years and chaired our Spring Ball. Her husband Pierson, a retired broadcasting executive, now serves on the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
The couple enjoyed a prosperous, fulfilled life. But in 2004, things suddenly changed. Pat suffered an aneurysm and was taken to the Emergency Department at Good Samaritan Hospital. The Hospital saved Pat’s life! Pierson and Pat are so grateful to Good Samaritan Hospital that they wanted to give something back.
For every individual donation of $10,000 or more, made now through November 2008, will be matched by the Mapes’ estate. All the funds will be used to expand and upgrade our Emergency Department. Gifts may be made in the form of cash, appreciated stock or planned gifts. You may also choose to pledge a gift and pay over five years.
