Dr. Richard Pucci relocated to Good Samaritan Hospital as a Bariatric specialist from The Medical College of Virginia in Richmond Virginia. He was a Clinical Instructor in General Surgery and a fellow in minimally invasive Surgery/ Bariatric Surgery.

He received his medical degree from Des Moines University, Des Moines, Iowa in I996. He then completed his surgical internship at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Allentown, Pa and Chief Residency at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. He went on to specialize in advanced laparoscopic surgery at the Medical College of Virginia-Virginia Commonwealth University- Clinical instructor 2003-2004.

Specializations include: minimally invasive Bariatric surgery, foregut surgery for reflux and motility diseases, minimally invasive colon surgery for benign and malignant disease, and minimally invasive solid organ surgery. His clinical and research interests include the resolution of diabetes and hypertension following gastric bypass with the evaluation of long-term outcomes data. Retrospective data was presented nationally at ASBS in June 2004. Other research areas of interest include long-term weight loss data comparisons between gastric bypass and lap band.

Common Procedures include: Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, Laparoscopic Gastric Band, Laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication, Laparoscopic Heller Myotomy, Laparoscopic Ventral/ Inguinal hernia, Laparoscopic Splenectomy, Laparoscopic Colectomy.

Dr. Pucci has had multiple research papers presented at the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.
