Mount Alverno Center resident Gladys Esposito celebrates 101st birthday

WARWICK – Although she’s of Italian heritage, Gladys Esposito, a resident of Mount Alverno, an assisted living center in Warwick, NY, celebrates St. Patrick’s Day every year.

That’s because Esposito, 101, was born in Paterson, New Jersey on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1910. At that time the President of the United States was William Howard Taft.

Mount Alverno Center is a New York State approved Adult Home with an Assisted Living Program on the Warwick Campus of the Bon Secours Charity Health System. Its goal is for each resident to maintain a maximum level of independence. Individualized care plans are designed to help residents reach their utmost daily potential. Services are based on a team approach and are provided by highly competent professionals dedicated to the comfort and safety of the residents.

Esposito never smoked or drank alcohol and, extraordinarily robust and alert for someone her age, credits her longevity to a loving family and leading a productive life.

Eight years ago Esposito moved to Mount Alverno Center, where she still wears her watch to be on time for many of the activities and programs offered. “I’m very happy here,” she said. “I love all the residents and the staff.”

Although it may still seem rare, the fasting growing segment of the population is actually people who have reached the age of 100 and beyond. Providing long term health care is one of the most important services offered by members of the Bon Secours Health Care System.
