ST. ANTHONY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL HOSTS “EAT LEARN LIVE WITH COLOR,” A FREE INFORMATIONAL EVENT AND COOKING DEMONSTRATION FEATURING LOCAL PRODUCE"
WARWICK, NY – March is National Nutrition Month and colorful fresh fruits and vegetables are an integral part of healthy nutrition and good cooking.
At 5 p.m. on Wednesday evening, March 23, St. Anthony Community Hospital will host a free informational event entitled, “EAT LEARN LIVE with COLOR,” in the Greenbriar Room. at Mt. Alverno Center, 20 Grand Street, Warwick. Mount Alverno is just ¼ mile past the hospital and there is ample parking space.
During the program a power point presentation will feature the many nutrition benefits you derive by choosing fruits and vegetables that vibrantly color your plate at meals. Experts report that colorful and tasty foods will satisfy your palate and provide plenty of health benefits without adding too many calories.
Professional Registered Dietitians (RDs) will share their tips on mindful eating that can slow down the eating experience and still be in tune with the sight, aroma, flavor and texture of your food, so that you enjoy more and eat less.
A cooking demonstration, which will include local market spring vegetables, lean meats and array of different berries in one low calorie but flavorful dessert, will accompany the event.
Lead Registered Dietitian Janine Killeen RD, CDE, CDN and Assistant Food Service Director Carmela Decker of Morrison Food Service Management specialists will host the event.
And Lynn Palmieri, DTR and Alison Adams RD will present healthy tips on the Vitamin and mineral needs of adults that can be found in nutritious foods.
