To Our Residents and Family Members:

We know some of you may be concerned about the spread of COVID-19 (the new coronavirus) being reported in the media and how it may impact the residents, their visitors and our staff at St. Josephs Place. Ensuring residents are cared for in a safe and healthy environment is our greatest concern. At this time, we do not have any cases in our facility.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have recommended a variety of steps that we are implementing to help reduce the potential for the virus to enter our building. However, we need your help in battling COVID-19. Below are some examples of how you can help protect the residents, as well as prevent the spread throughout the community.

At this time, in an effort to minimize our residents’ exposure to COVID-19, we are suspending all visitation. We will work with individual families on various ways that we can ease any cause for concern that you may have.

We understand that connecting with family members is incredibly important, and there are a variety of other ways you might consider connecting with them while visits are suspended. These may include telephone, email, text, or through Skype or Facebook. Again, we will have our staff work with you on how best to connect with your family member while visits are prohibited. Our center is following the recommendations of the CDC on prevention steps, including following strict handwashing procedures, and in many circumstances, wearing personal protective equipment when interacting with residents who are sick. We also are staying up-to-date with the CDC, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the NYS Department of Health recommendations as they are updated.

We will notify you if any residents or staff members are diagnosed with COVID-19. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact our center at our main number: 845.858.7070.

Beverly Roa, 75

"I was at Bon Secours Community Hospital in the ICU because I could not walk without help and I could not talk.  I was transferred to St. Josephs Place so I could receive additional help and treatment.  They called for speech therapy while I was there and due to this helpful therapy and a new medication that was prescribed to me my voice/ability to talk came back.  This was a miracle for me.  The nursing staff at St. Josephs Place was instrumental in my recovery.  They would not let me just stay in my room, they helped me try new things and challenged me to improve.  Because of the patience and insistence of my physical therapist I was walking with the help of a walker (but on my own -- and without a wheel chair) within a week."

"Every single member of the nursing staff, nursing aides, speech, physical and occupational therapists at St. Josephs Place are phenomenal."
