Pharmacy

The Pharmacy Departments across Bon Secours Charity Health System provides all patients of our three hospitals with efficient, high quality, cost effective service. The goal of the Pharmacy Department is to ensure the appropriate, safe, effective and efficient use of medications.

The department operates in accordance with Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (The Joint Commission), American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and all legal and contemporary standards of practice.

Pharmaceutical services are available to:

  • All inpatients. The Pharmacy Department provides medications based on physician orders and monitors drug therapies where appropriate.
  • Medical and nursing staff, who are involved in the monitoring and evaluation of drug therapies for patients. The Pharmacy Department teams with the nursing, dietary and medical staff to monitor ADRs (adverse drug reactions), food and drug interactions in patients.

The pharmacy also prepares and monitors drug therapies in our two outpatient infusion centers.

Pharmacists must be New York State-licensed in accordance with regulations of the New York State Board of Pharmacy. Technical staff must meet basic educational requirements and be able to assist pharmacists.
