The Maternity Department at Good Samaritan Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), has again been recognized by Healthgrades, a leading online hospital ratings source. The hospital received the Labor and Delivery and Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Awards for the fifth year in a row, which places Good Samaritan Hospital among the top five percent of hospitals evaluated nationwide. A 5-Star rating for Vaginal Delivery for the eighth consecutive year was also awarded.

The department includes a team of 140 nurses (Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Electronic Fetal Monitoring-certified), four lactation consultants, 15 physicians and four certified nurse midwives who are dedicated to the needs of the diverse patient population.

The unit includes 34 four post-partum private rooms and seven birthing suites, with plans to expand to 10, and two operating rooms with 24/7 anesthesia services.

A 10-bed Level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) can safely care for babies born at 32 weeks or older who weigh over three pounds. Good Samaritan has a close affiliation with the Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (RNICU) at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, a member of WMCHealth, so mothers identified as high risk or babies in need of more advanced care are seamlessly transferred there. This nursery cares for babies with every type of medical issue in a family-oriented, professional environment. The RNICU is staffed with specially trained physicians, nurses and health professionals who are experts in the treatment of premature and ill newborns. Each baby receives the personal attention his or her condition requires.
